Event Format: Men's ice hockey tournament was a competition between 12 national teams and the competition included preliminary groups, qualification matches, quarterfinals, semifinals, Bronze medal match and Gold medal match. In the three preliminary groups with four teams in each group every team played against all others in the group. The three winners of the groups and the best number two team advanced directly to the quarterfinals and the remaining 8 teams played four qualification matches for the quarterfinals. The Olympic champions was the team winning the Gold medal match. Event facts: Men's Ice hockey competition was held at the Bolshoy Ice Dome and 12 teams participated in the event. |
