Event Format: Men's ice hockey tournament is a competition between 12 national teams and the competition includes preliminary groups, qualification matches, quarterfinals, semifinals, Bronze medal match and Gold medal match. In the three preliminary groups every team will play against all others in the group. The three winners of the groups and the best number two team advance directly to the quarterfinals and the remaining 8 teams will play four qualification matches for the quarterfinals.
