Event Format: In slopestyle the snowboarders competed on a slope with various forms of obstacles (rails, quarterpipes and jumps). The speed from the slope allowed the riders to perform difficult aerial tricks from the obstacles. Points were given by 6 judges. Slopestyle was a two-days competition with a qualifying round held on one day and semifinal and final held the following day. In the qualifying round snowboarders were divided in two heats. The 4 best riders from each heat were qualified to the final and the rest to the semifinal. In the semifinal the 4 best riders were qualified to the final. The Olympic gold medal winner was the rider with the best single result in the final. Event facts: Men's Slopestyle competition was held at the Phoenix Snow Park and 35 athletes participated in the event. |
