Event Format: Men’s Individual Normal Hill competition was an event in which athletes jumped from a minor hill (Hill size 105 m). The competition was a two-day event with a qualifying round and a final round. The 10 highest ranked ski jumpers in the world cup ranking were qualified directly to the final round but they were allowed to jump in the qualifying round for practice. From the qualifying round the 40 ski jumpers with the highest score (based on distance points, judges points for style, gate points and wind points) after a single jump advanced to the final round the following day. 50 ski jumpers jumped in the first round but only the 30 athletes with the best result after the first jump were admitted to the second round of jumps in the final. The ski jumper with the highest total score for the two jumps in the final round was the Olympic gold medalist.
