Event Format: Teams competed in a pool stage followed by a knock out stage. In the pool stage 24 teams were drawn in six pools of four teams. 16 teams advanced from the pool stage to the knock out stage where teams competed in preliminary round, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. Matches in Beach Volleyball were the best of three sets with the first two played to 21 points and the third, if needed, played to 15 points. At least a two-points margin was needed to win a set. A team could score a point regardless of which team was serving. Event facts: Women's Beach volley competition was held at the South Paris Arena I and 24 teams participated in the event. |
