Event Format: Teams will compete in a pool stage followed by a knock out stage. In the pool stage 24 teams are drawn in six pools of four teams. 16 teams advance from the pool stage to the knock out stage where teams compete in preliminary round, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. Matches in Beach Volleyball are the best of three sets with the first two played to 21 points and the third, if needed, played to 15 points. At least a two-points margin is needed to win a set.
