| * The Russian pair won the event with 5 first places narrowly in front of the Canadian pair with 4. A few days later a French judge admitted that she had been involved in voting in favor of the Russian pair while the Russian judge would vote for the French ice dancing pair. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Skating Union (ISU) decided to place both pairs joint first and to award two sets of gold medals. The scandal subsequently lead to thorough changes in the figure skating judging system. |
