Format: First step in the gymnastics competition was the team competition/qualifying round in which all entrants performed both compulsory and optional exercises on all apparatuses. Seven gymnasts were allowed in each team and the team could choose six to compete on each apparatus. Top five scores per team on each exercise counted in the team score.
