** Darya Pchelnik BLR disqualified from the competition for doping after retesting her samples from the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

*** Zalina Marghieva MDA disqualified from the competition for doping. Banned for 2 years until July 2015.

Women's Hammer throw - Athletics - Berlin 2009 World Championships

Event Format: Athletes competed in a qualifying round followed by the final. Top twelve and ties in the qualifying round and all those reaching the announced qualification limit advanced to the final. In the final all finalists were given three tries. The top eight were then given three more. The athlete with the best result in the final was the winner of the World Championship.
