Format: The snowboarders competed two against each other on two side-by-side courses passing a number of gates marked with poles. In parallel slalom the gates were placed much closer than in the parallel giant slalom event and the snowboarders had to make quicker and shorter turns. After a qualifying round the 16 athletes with the best results competed under a knock-out system with round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals (Bronze medal race and Gold medal race). Each match in the knock-out rounds consisted of two heats as the riders switched courses in heat 1 and 2. The combined time for the heats was used to decide the winner. The Olympic gold medal winner was the rider winning the Gold medal race. |
