Event Format: Drivers raced with high speed on a sled down an ice track through curved, high-speed turns. Drivers were situated on their back on the sled with their feet stretched out in front of them. The teams in the relay competition consisted of a woman on a singles sled, a man on a singles sled and two men on a doubles sled running the relay in that order. At the finishing line each driver had to touch a special touch-pad which automatically opened the in-run gate for next member of the team. When the last member of the team (the doubles sled) hit the touch-pad this would determine the total time for the team. The competition consisted of a single run for each team and the team with the fastest time was the winner of the Olympic gold medals.
Event facts: Team Relay competition was held at the Sanki Olympic Sliding Center and 12 teams participated in the event. |
