* Lyudmila Blonska UKR disqualified from the competition for doping in accordance with Athletics Integrity Unit's “Global List of Ineligible Persons”. Lifetime banned and results annulled from 16.08.2008 ** Tatyana Chernova RUS disqualified from the competition for doping after retesting her samples from the 2009 World Championship. Results annulled from 15.08.09 to 14.08.11 and banned for 2 years. In November 2016 further disqualification was decided and all results from 15.08.11 to 22.07.13 were annulled. In April 2017 she was disqualified from the 2008 Olympics.
Event Format: Women's heptathlon included seven events held over a two-days period. On the first day the athletes competed in 100 m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 m. On the second day they competed in long jump, javelin throw and 800 m. Rules for the events were generally the same as for the individual events. Points were scored according to a points-table approved by IAAF. Event facts: Women's Heptathlon competition was held at the Beijing National Stadium and 43 athletes participated in the event. |
