Facts about Henrik Larsen in Gymnastics
The Danish gymnast Henrik Larsen was born in 1888 in Højby near Odense.

From an early age he was very interested in gymnastics. At the age of 23 he participated in the Danish Olympic trials before the Games in Stockholm in 1912.

Larsen was selected for the Danish competition team in the discipline Swedish Gymnastics, which was a competition in team gymnastics including exercises on various gymnastics equipment. Each team was allowed to use 16 to 40 gymnasts. The Danish team, led by the legendary Niels Bukh, consisted of 30 gymnasts.

The outdoors competition took place on July 8 at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium and three nations participated in the competition, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The teams performed their exercises simultaneously. Competition time was one hour including entry and exit march.

The gymnastic teams were judged by five judges. Four of the judges placed the Swedish team to win, while a single judge voted for the Danish team, which consequently won the silver medal with Henrik Larsen in the team.

Henrik Larsen's name is not on the list of medalists in the official report by the Swedish organizers released after the Stockholm Olympics. There is strong evidence however, in particular his silver medal and other items owned by the Larsen family, for Henrik Larsen's participation in the Danish competition team.

Henrik Larsen later on in life took care of general management tasks in Danish sports. In the period 1922-42 he was Chairman of Højby Skytte og Gymnastik Klub.

Henrik Larsen died in 1975.
