Event Format: Men's Individual Large Hill competition was an event in which athletes jumped from a large hill. The competition was a two-day event with a qualifying round and a final round. From the qualifying round the 50 ski jumpers with the highest score (based on distance points, judges points for style, gate points and wind points) after a single jump advanced to the final round the following day. 50 ski jumpers jumped in the first round but only the 30 athletes with the best result after the first jump were admitted to the second round of jumps in the final. The ski jumper with the highest total score for the two jumps in the final round was the winner of the World Championship.
