Event Format: Skiers competed in a qualifying round and a final round. In the qualifying round each skier ran two races down the slalom course and the 25 fastest in each run advanced to the final. In the final round each skier also ran two races down the course. In the slalom event the skiers had to pass a number of gates marked with poles. In slalom the gates were placed much closer than in the giant slalom event and the skiers had to make quicker and shorter turns. The Olympic gold medal winner was the athlete with the best total time for the two races in the final round. Event facts: Men's Slalom competition was held at the Patscherkofel and 96 athletes participated in the event. |
