The Olympic gymnastics program in 1912 included the discipline Swedish Gymnastics, which was an outdoors competition in team gymnastics including exercises with various gymnastics equipment. The discipline was only an Olympic event twice, in 1912 and 1920. Each team was allowed to use 16 to 40 gymnasts.
The competition took place on July 8 at Stockholm Olympic Stadium and three nations participated in the competition, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The teams performed their exercises simultaneously. Competition time was one hour including entry and exit march.
The performance was judged by five judges. Four of the judges placed the Swedish team to win with a total score of 937 points, while a single judge voted for the Danish team, which consequently won the silver medal with a score of 898 points. The bronze medal went to the Norwegian team with 857 points.
In the following Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920 Sweden won the gold medal once again with Denmark in second place.
