Olympic event format at the 2014 Olympic Games - Freestyle Skiing Format: In moguls the skiers raced down a bumpy slope. Athletes were required to perform two jumps on their way through the course. Points were given by 8 judges who evaluated how well the moguls were navigated and the quality and difficulty of the jumps. Judges also added points for speed according to a special formula. The competition format included two qualifying rounds and three final rounds. In the first qualifying round the 10 athletes with the best results advanced to the final rounds. The rest of the athletes ran a second qualifying round and another 10 athletes advanced to the final rounds. 20 athletes participated in the first final round and the 12 best athletes advanced to the second final round. The 6 best athletes in the second final round were qualified to the third final round. The Olympic gold medal winner was the athlete with the best result in the third final round.
