Format: First step in the gymnastics competition is a qualifying round in which all entrants perform optional exercises on all apparatuses. The eight teams with the highest score advance to the final round. Six gymnasts are allowed on each team in the qualifying round with five to compete on each apparatus. In the final each team has six gymnasts and three compete on each apparatus. All three scores count in the team score.
