Øvelsesformat: First step in the gymnastics competition was a qualifying round in which all entrants performed optional exercises on all apparatuses. The eight teams with the highest score advanced to the final round. Six gymnasts were allowed on each team in the qualifying round with five to compete on each apparatus. In the final each team had six gymnasts and three competed on each apparatus. All three scores counted in the team score.
