* Russian Larissa Lazutina finished second in the race. In June 2002 the International Ski Federation (FIS) decided that Lazutina was not eligible to compete at the Salt Lake Winter Games due to her having testet positive in doping controls prior to the Games. FIS decided to suspend her for two years from December 8 2001. In December 2003 the International Olympic Commitee (IOC) announced its decision to annul all results of Lazutina at the 2002 Winter Games.
** Russian Olga Danilova finished first in the race. In October 2003 IOC announced that Danilova had testet positive in doping controls at the Games. IOC decided to annul all results of Danilova at the 2002 Winter Games. |
Women's 5+5 km pursuit - Cross Country - Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics
Event Format: The event was skied in two sections on the same day with a classical leg skied first in the morning, followed by a freestyle pursuit in the afternoon. The first 50 skiers in the classical leg qualified for the freestyle pursuit. Event facts: Women's 5+5 km pursuit competition was held at the Soldier Hollow and 73 athletes participated in the event. |
