Format: Short track teams competed in heats on a 111 m oval ice track. Eight teams of four short track skaters participated in the relay event. The competition format included two semifinals, B-final and A-final. Each team decided among themselves the number of laps each athlete skated. The only exception was the last two laps, which had to be covered by the same skater. The first two teams from each semifinal advanced to the A-final and the rest of the teams to the B-final. The B-final determined the classification from place no. 5 to 8 and the A-final from place no. 1 to 4. The Olympic champions was the team winning the A-final.
